About

Hello, and welcome to Plant-Powered Running!

My name is Marian, and I am a vegan distance runner living in Columbia, South Carolina.

I started Plant-Powered Running in October 2017, the day after running my seventh (that’s right, 7th) 50k, to show other distance runners interested in the plant-based lifestyle that they absolutely can make it work.

When I’m not blogging, I’m often out for a run, working out at the gym or puttering in the kitchen. I love to cook, and I’ve come to enjoy cooking even more since I stopped making things that required handling raw meat!

While the primary aim of Plant-Powered Running is to share recipes and information about nutrition in a way that’s relevant to vegan athletes (and aspiring vegan athletes), the blog also includes resources on related topics, including cross-training (which every runner needs to do, vegan or not) and alternative diets such as my vegan slow-carb diet experiment.

I also share a lot of real-time magic in the kitchen via Instagram, so be sure to follow me there too! (As well as my Twitter here and in the sidebar.)

Again, welcome! Check out some of my recent recipe and nutrition posts, and if you want to learn more – like the answer to the question “where do you get your protein?” – just leave me your email address in the pop-up and I’ll send you my free guide to plant-based sources of protein.

And if you have anything else to ask about or say, good, bad or indifferent, feel free to comment below or send me an email at:

Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to sharing even more in the future and hearing about your own journey as a vegan athlete!
